Paradise Lost: Rome

It is only when we lose something that we become aware of how rich we were

The blessing in disguise is that I live in a large complex, above the Spanish Steps, which is isolated from the rest of the city, and that we have our own park to walk around… I sit on a bench today, sunbathe, look at all the trees and greenery in blossom, and parrots flying around me… nothing indicates a disaster on the other side of the walls. On the one hand, life abounds (just like in Eden), while on the other, fear and anxiety wander through the empty streets of Rome. Sometimes you find yourself on one side and sometimes on the other side of the wall, that’s the logic of life …
